It’s officially the start of Summer League! This is somewhat of an extension of College Basketball, while adding in some players who likely don’t need to be playing in these games. We’ve found success with it in the past, so let’s keep that going this season!

PrizePicks 6-man
Before we get started, I want to say a few things. First, I used my Flex Friday on that. I’m aware you can’t since it’s Saturday, but take some caution on a slip like this.
It’s the first day of the Summer League. We don’t know rotations, roles, etc. It’s all speculation at this point, and that’s something we can take advantage of, but it also adds uncertainty.
If you don’t like someone I used, don’t use them. I’m also not overly concerned about getting positive (or negative) line movement today.
Here’s the slip:
Kel’el Ware
Doesn’t need Summer League
Averaged 27.7 PRA in 26.7 minutes per game in SL LY
Averaged 32.5 PRA in 29.6 minutes per game in 2 G-Leagues games LY
Averaged 17.6 PRA in 22.2 minutes per game in the NBA LY
Good matchup vs SA
SA doesn’t have any bigs to guard him
Expecting Ware to play 1-2 (maybe 3) games before shutting it down
Should be the focal point in the games he plays
Dalton Knecht
Similar position to Ware, but to a lesser extent
Averaged 21.3 PPG in Las Vegas LY
Been in the gym w/ JJ Redick
SL offense will revolve around Knecht & Bronny James
Would be surprised if he doesn’t average 20+ in his limited SL games TY
Good matchup GS
GS has a BAD roster this CC
GG Jackson
Averaged the 4th most FGA/G (along with 5+ FTA/G) in SL LY
Averaged 22.0 PPG LY
Cam Spencer and Jaylen Wells are solid options, but Jackson is the one willing to take over games
Coward isn’t expected to play
Don’t particularly love the matchup vs OKC
Also not going to shy away because of it
Third volume player I’m taking here
Jalen Hood-Scifino
This is probably the “riskiest” option
Philly is pretty loaded with talent and players who COULD lead the team in scoring
The key is that JHS is the one that has that “takeover” mentality
Justin Edwards already talked about working on offensive rebounds this SL
Would be wild if he meant on his own misses lol
JHS also took only 1 fewer FGA/G than Edwards (in less time) for the Sixers, even though one was good and the other was JHS
VJ Edgecombe was passive at times at Baylor, and I’m not sure he’s going to be looking to completely take the game over (he can)
Johni Broome likely doesn’t have the ability to consistently create his own shot, and Philly isn’t likely to play through him in SL
Averaged 13.7 PPG in SL for LA 2 years ago
Shot only 21.7% from deep
Averaged 22.2 PPG in 22.3 MPG in the G-League
Like I said, a lot of risk, but he can easily beat this number if he is acting as a focal point of the offense
Nikola Topic
Missed the entire season with an injury
OKC has already stated that he spent time with the team, studying and learning the NBA game
Expected to be fully healthy for SL
Expected to act as the focal point of the offense
This doesn’t mean primary scorer
Ajay Mitchell should act as the primary scorer
Shot is a work in progress, but flashed the ability to score overseas
First opportunity for OKC to see what they got in the 2024 first round
Oftentimes Summer League is about developing specific prospects, meaning they can do whatever they want on the floor
That’s Topic
Intrigued by the matchup vs MEM
Some solid defensive options
Mitchell should be the focal point of the defense, though
Branden Carlson
Averaged 9.6 PPG in only 20.5 mins in the SL LY (Toronto)
Averaged 16.7 PPG in 29 mins in the G-League
Played in 23+ mins three times for OKC LY
Scored 26, 9, 16
Proven he can find success in the SL, G-League, and NBA
Good matchup vs MEM
Not overly concerned with Armando Bacot’s (or anyone else’s) defense
Biggest concern is that he won’t be a focal point of the offense
Number is just too low for what we know he can do
