We lost on Day Two for this $10 → $10k Challenge. We hit both strikeout props with the Milwaukee Brewers selling us on multiple errors (kind of). We profit a cool $3.90 on that challenge, and we’re running it back now. It’s time we make that $10k, right?
If you’re new to the Buy Low newsletter, make sure you subscribe [for free] above this Intro. I’ll be posting the entire $10 → $10k Challenge on here. I’ll also be posting my usual PrizePicks plays and bets! Here’s my other PrizePicks play for today:
Rules
Truthfully, I just learned about the $10 → $10k Challenge, and I don’t even know if I’m doing it right. We’re about to find out as I type this lol.
Essentially, you’re starting with $10. You place a bet on anything with roughly +100 odds. You continue this process over and over until you get to $10,000. How it’d look:
$10 → $20 → $40 → $80 → $160 → $320 → $640 → $1,280 → $2,560 → $5,120 → $10,240
It’s 11 wins in a row. The key here allows you to make plenty of money on a small bet. Once you get to the higher numbers, you’re potentially making thousands of dollars on only a $10 bet. The biggest key here is… how far can we really make it before we chicken out and take the money? Lol.
Day One
We’re back to Day One of this challenge. Let’s cash this! Below is my reasoning for each bet!
Yusei Kikuchi Strikeouts
Kikuchi is quietly a great strikeout option this season. He boasts a 10.2 K/9 through 18 starts. He owns 25.5% strikeout, 12.6% swinging-strike, and 26.4% CSW rates this season.
Kikuchi is worse on the road, which is a bit of a concern. With that being said, he’s posted 4+ strikeouts in 14 of his last 16 starts. He’s hit that threshold in 6 of his last 7 starts as well.
The key here is the matchup for Kikuchi. He’ll face off against the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore only ranks 18th in the MLB in strikeout rate (21.6%) over the last 14 days.
The Orioles have been terrible against left-handed pitching, though. They’re striking out 26.4% of the time against lefties since July 16th.
Seven consecutive left-handed pitchers have recorded 4+ strikeouts against Baltimore. Twenty of the last 23 lefties have hit that threshold as well.
The key pitches here will be Kikuchi’s slider and changeup. He’s found plenty of strikeout success with both of these pitches, and the Orioles have struggled against both types of pitches throughout the season.
I’d feel confident with this total being much higher if I was confident Kikuchi would throw deeper into this game. The Blue Jays pulled him from his last game because they didn’t want him throwing a third time through the lineup. I believe he’ll hit 4+ strikeouts if he throws twice through the lineup, which is close to a lock.
Chris Bassitt & Zac Gallen Strikeouts
I already outlined Bassitt and Gallen in my PrizePicks play. You can take all of this information and use it here. Obviously, I’m dropping the totals down slightly to make this a bit safer overall.
Bet Yusei Kikuchi o3.5 Ks, Chris Bassitt o4.5 Ks, & Zac Gallen o4.5 Ks (+148)
